Overview

Scout Design, a standout print and branding studio in Richmond, tapped me to lead the digital experience for PlanG, a startup on a mission to revolutionize charitable giving through micro-donations. With Scout shaping the brand and visual identity, I was brought in to design and deliver a robust digital experience at scale.

Problem

PlanG needed a full-featured web platform with public-facing pages, secure account management, and a payment gateway. In addition, they wanted to launch a companion app, all within three months, due to a commitment made to an angel investor. With a deeply involved founding team and an intense timeline, success would require exceptional coordination, strategy, and time management.

Action

While Scout’s team focused on brand development and user research, I:

  • Created the UX strategy, information architecture, and wireframes for authenticated and unauthenticated experiences
  • Translated Scout’s visual identity into a scalable design system and cohesive digital UI
  • Provided technical guidance for the development team, overseeing front-end architecture and interaction design
  • Acted as liaison between Scout, PlanG stakeholders, and developers to ensure smooth handoffs and alignment across teams

Results

  • Launched a full-featured web platform on time, despite an aggressive three-month timeline
  • Attracted enterprise interest immediately after launch, Gap Inc. partnered on a holiday campaign
  • Led UX and front-end strategy across web and mobile, streamlining stakeholder and dev collaboration
  • Acquired by YouDecide.com in 2015, validating product-market fit and long-term potential
