Overview
Gandzee was a local family-run startup offering high-end, coordinated children’s clothing. Unlike typical retailers, Gandzee sold full wardrobe packages, carefully curated, mix-and-match collections designed to simplify life for busy parents. Kismet Communications led branding and marketing strategy, and I was brought in to design and develop the digital shopping experience.
Problem
Gandzee needed a user-friendly e-commerce platform that would reflect the brand’s unique value proposition while being simple enough for non-technical owners to maintain. The site had to support multiple content templates and a secure, scalable shopping experience.
Action
After evaluating multiple e-commerce platforms, I recommended Shopify for its flexibility and ease of use. From there, I:
- Designed a simple, clean interface tailored to Gandzee’s vibrant brand
- Created flexible templates for wardrobe packages, product listings, and editorial content
- Customized the Shopify theme to reflect the curated nature of the product
- Built in a streamlined checkout process and trained the team on content updates and order management
Results
- National visibility after Gandzee’s founder was featured on The Katie Couric Show
- Site traffic surged following the broadcast, driving brand recognition and sales
- Helped catalyze the launch of Gandzee’s first brick-and-mortar store
- Generated $5.6M in revenue over five years before the business sunset
